Shed, Deck & Fence Removal
Light, non-structural teardown only: old sheds, small low decks, fence runs and playsets taken apart and hauled away.
This page is about light, non-structural teardown only. Gone By Five takes down old backyard sheds, small low decks, fence runs, playsets and swing sets, then hauls every piece away in the same visit. We don't do structural demolition, anything that needs a demolition permit, work on the house itself, or anything involving asbestos. If a job crosses that line, we'll tell you up front so you can bring in a demolition contractor.
Sheds are the most common job. Wood, metal and resin sheds come apart differently, and the price depends mostly on size, materials and what sits underneath. A shed on blocks or a gravel pad is simple; a concrete slab or poured footings are heavy and priced by weight, so tell us what you've got. Empty the shed first, or tell us what's inside and we'll quote the contents too.
Decks and fences work the same way. We take on small, low, freestanding decks and ground-level steps, not elevated decks or anything tied into the structure of the house. Wood, vinyl and chain-link fence runs come down section by section, and posts set in concrete add weight, so mention them. Any power, gas or water feeding a shed or deck has to be disconnected by the right trade before we start. Send photos with rough sizes, like a 10x12 shed or 80 feet of fence, and we'll reply with a written quote. Longer tear-out list? See light demolition.

Shed, deck & fence removal: common questions
What counts as light, non-structural demolition?
Freestanding backyard structures we can take apart by hand and haul in a trailer: sheds, small low decks, fences and playsets. Anything structural, attached to the house, needing a permit or involving asbestos is outside what we do.
Do I need a permit to take down a shed?
Rules vary by town and county, so check with your local building office if you're unsure. If a job needs a demolition permit, it isn't one we take on.
Can you remove the concrete slab under my shed?
Often, yes. Concrete is heavy and priced by weight; typical market rates for slab removal run about $3 to $8 per square foot. Send photos and the slab size.
